It would limit the number of tourists on koh tao because we're heading for an ecological disaster.
I guess the juice from these garbage during the rainy season, yuck!

the amount of tourists became unmanageable for a small island as koh tao or there is even a traffic jam has l? arrival of boats and of course the energy consumption to serve everyone with more pool, air conditioned and imported product, must be huge!

@ Maxim and other sores the same green, ilk:
"it would limit the number of tourists on koh tao because we're heading for an ecological disaster."
You're quite right!
And as an example, I proose it's you who is "private" island of the turtle for 5 years minimum.
What would an island in Thailand no one contemplates?
I remember the Lacanian sentence: "the reality is that as it is symbolized by the desire"
A look, a voice: p
I refuse the most beautiful sites of Thailand disappear into the nothingness of the "ecological" bienpensance.
A word: p

Maxim was talking to limit and not to prevent tourism has koh tao and it is rather a good idea when natural resources are insufficient.
tourists come for the beauty of the island and the clarity of the sea then isn't this ridiculous to offer more in addition to accommodation with pool then koh tao ran out of water and care in much of the continent!
Thai food is almost always encensee so why so many restaurant offering imported food!
It's too hot and you need air conditionnee? Should maybe you not travel in the tropics then?
A Word to the wise!

Limit the number of tourists it's easy to say...

And I'm not sure how that would be possible. Like limiting the number of people arriving per day depending on the number of people who went the day before... And when people arrive, if the quota is exceeded we tell people that they must return to the Mainland to swim? Even though they have booked a hotel and I know of others?

Or so to force people to book their return by boat transport (and so suddenly force them to book accommodation) in order to apply quotas? Difficult as knowing how the ferry market is shared (in competition) and that people can arrive Chumphon, Koh Phangan, Koh Samui or Surat Thani.

Or then not not limit the number of tourists, but limit the infrastructure of accommodation (decrease the number of beds) and force people to have a hotel reservation to take the boat direction Koh Tao. But again, what about the no-show? What about the breakdown between hotels? Rather unmanageable. They could totally shave hotels but why to shave one over the other...

Or so a tax on arrival in Koh Tao, to finance the treatment of waste (and also a tax for residents who pay no tax :). But it's of interest that when taxes are coming in the right pockets.

For the shot of thai food you talking about Robert, I can't see what you want to say, because in Koh Tao, to my knowledge, that the food is thai or not, it is imported from the continent.

Don't worry about the limitation of arrivals in Koh Tao; get herself alone as in Samui also; pollution of beaches, tourist over-harvesting, and so on...
Too bad but inevitable! Some including myself chose more clear waters, and more smiling smiles
My opinion is also shared by many expat in BKK

Hi Olbe
I do not think that the shadow of tourists declines on koh tao with the arrival of Chinese and Russian tourists and a kind "the Tuches" vacationing for Europeans!

Orange: tourists, Chinese and Asian in general, but ultimately preferable to the "farangs" that make diving competition in screaming from the roof of their "boat trip" and who would later see fish?

bury unsorted garbage (with batteries and other toxic materials and after we pump water from wells for 24hours resorts?!)
Already that there is no treatment plant for wastewater a koh tao and we can see many runoff of stinking water in several places, I think that corals will have trouble has to digest it all!

Hello everyone,
After reading several blogs I must admit that I'm completely lost.
>>> We organize our trip for April 2017, Bangkok, Chiang Mai and of course a little lazy and Sun on an island paradise. But today we no longer know how to turn. "Koh Tao's sublime" - "Don't go above all!" / "Koh Samui and its beaches of dreams"-"on people!" / "Phuket is to see, there are some nice spots" - "too touristy..."
There is, of course, add to this the season...
Some tips for '' good '' pick our island?
Thank you, and good day.

I understand your questions, because they reflect the reluctance relatively new to these Islands (Koh Tao Phuket Samui) you will find still some bad places such as Kamala Phuket or Samui Mae Sam
It is obvious that the sea is more than it was because of the multiplication of the coastal resorts and the absence or near absence of sanitation
The influx of tourists is inversely proportional to the kindness and smiles of thai and it is quite normal to see the attitude of some expats and farangs or Asian
Of course and that's legitimate expats of these islands are defending (but less) the charms of their corner for business reasons...
There are a few islands across the still pristine Gulf with still nearly Virgin beaches with much clearer waters because very few hotel (airport of TRAT); that necessarily affects the home
I'm going to still burn, but I assume!
And there is so much other havens to discover with respect for nature means
Happy holidays to you and Asia is wonderful still everywhere

It, it became a real problem on the forums where it is difficult to know if we got to a real tourist or business owners who are soliciting!
